Title Of Article :
High resolution computed tomography findings of a silicosis patient working at a dental prosthesis laboratory
Abstract :
Silicosis is an occupational disease that can lead to chronic nodular fibrosis in lungs due to inhalation of cristalized cilicate particles. The diameter of the particles varies between 0.5-5 microns. It is mostly encountered in laborers working in stone, charcoal, gold, copper, iron mines and also in workers that deal with bricks, tile and clay. It can also be seen in dental technicians who do not work in proper laboratory conditions. High resolution computed tomography ( HRCT) is valuable in the diagnosis and follow-up of especially early stage or mild cases of silicosis. HRCT findings of a male patient who exposed cilicate dusts at the dental prosthesis laboratory for ten years are documented in this case report.
