Abstract :
This research was carried out to determine cold storage of Scarlet Spur apple cultivar in controlledatmosphere (CA) and air conditions in Horticulture Department of Süleyman Demirel University. Fruits harvested at optimum harvest time and transported immediately to the Post-harvest Physiology Laboratory. They were stored under four different conditions of CA (%O2:%CO2; 1:1, 2:2, 1:3, 3:5) and normal air (NA) (21:0.03) conditions. Fruits were stored for 6 months in NA and 8 months in CA at 0°C temperature and 90±5 % relative humidity. Apple samples taken as monthly (NA) and two month (CA) intervals from cold storages and fruit weight losses, soluble solid contents, titratable acidity, pH, fruit flesh firmness and fruit skin color were determined. CA cabins gave the better results than NA in terms of many quality parameters of fruits. The best results for storage quality and life of Scarlet Spur apples obtained from 1% O2 and 3% CO2 combinations of controlled atmosphere.
