Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to determine of energy use analysis in watermelon and melon production in the dry farming conditions in Kırklareli province. Energy use analysis work was carried out through the observation and measurement a farm in Urunlu village of centre district Kırklareli province, in the 2011-2012 season. The total energy input, total yield, total energy output, energy output/input ratio, specific energy, energy productivity and net energy in the production of watermelon were determined as 11219.66 MJ ha^-1, 28000 kg ha^-1, 53200 MJ ha^-1, 4.74, 0.40 MJ kg^-1, 2.49 kg MJ^-1 and 41980.34 MJ ha^-1, respectively. The total energy input, total yield, total energy output, energy output/input ratio, specific energy, energy productivity and net energy in the production of melon were determined as 11644.47 MJ ha^-1, 18250 kg ha^-1, 34675 MJ ha^-1, 2.97, 0.63 MJ kg^-1, 1.56 kg MJ^-1 and 23030.53 MJ ha^-1, respectively. Watermelon output/input energy of about 1.6 times more than that of melon output/input energy. As the result, fertilizers had the highest rate and it was followed by fuel-oil and human energy consumption in watermelon and melon production.
