Abstract :
Avocado cultivation has increased rapidly since the mid-1980s, in the Mediterranean coastline places such as Alanya, Gazipasa and Anamur in Turkey. In our country, internal hormonal levels during thegrowing periods of seedling rootstocks used as propagating material in the avocado tree nurseries haven’tbeen revealed yet. This project aimed to determine internal hormonal contents (ABA and GA3 levels) in the development of seedling to form the basis of plant growth regulator applications. It was studied on seedlings of the commercial varieties such as Bacon, Fuerte, Hass and Zutano along with Topa Topa and Mexicola used as a source of the seedling rootstocks. Therefore, the fruits of the varieties to be used asrootstock were harvested at two different times and seeds of these fruits were planted at two differenttimes. During periods of seedling development, gibberellic acid (GA3) and abscisic acid (ABA) amounts were analyzed. As a result of this study; abscisic acid and gibberellin amounts of seedlings were found to be associated with each other generally depending on varieties. During seedling development between themonths of January and June, both ABA and GA3 contents reduced. The cause of the decline between January and June in ABA and GA3 values is thought to be a result of the ongoing development ofseedlings with the climatic effects.
