Title Of Article :
The effects of planting densities on bulb performance of madonna lily
Abstract :
This research was conducted to determine the effects of planting densities on bulb development of Lilium candidum L. at Afyon Kocatepe University, in the working garden of Sultandağı Vocational Schools in 2012-2013 autumn-winter growing season. The bulbs with 4cm diameter and taken from a firm exportingnatural flower bulbs of Lilium candidum L. as plant material were used in this study. The experiment wasdesigned as a randomized plot design with 3 replicates. 20 bulbs in 20x20 cm planting distance and 12bulbs in 30x30 cm planting distance were used in each plot. All bulbs were planted in depth of 10 cm.Bulb diameter and weight, stem diameter and plant length were obtained and these data were tested with variance and LSD test. As a result of analyzes, it was not found any differences between plant distancesin terms of bulb diameter, bulb weight, stem diameter and plant length. Bulb diameter 5.90-5.94 cm, bulb weight 70.92-79.29 g, plant length 38.07-39.50 cm and stem diameter 7.03-7.33 mm were determined. All bulbs enlarged their diameter according to the bulbs planted at the beginning of the experiment (47.5-48.5%).
