مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - Effect of sowing times on heterosis and heterobeltiosis in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Abstract :

This study was carried out to investigate effect of sowing time on seed cotton yield, fiber yield, gin turnout hybrid power (heterosis and heterobeltiosis) values in Kahramanmaraş conditions in 2010 and 2011 years. Four homozigout line (Carmen, Stoneville 468, Adana 98 and Furkan) and two tester (Beliizvor 432 and Primera) were used as a plant material with their eight F1 hybrids which they were obtained by Line x Tester method in 2010. Carmen, Furkan, Stoneville 468 and Adana 98 cultivars have late and semi-late duration while Beliizvor 432 and Primera cultivars have early maturity duration respectively. All genotype (parents and crosses) were planted in 26^th April, 16^th May and 4^th June in 2011 year. As a result of the study, delaying sowing time were affected negatively seed cotton yield, lint yield and gin turnout while the hybrid powers (heterosis and heterobeltiosis) were increasing and higher agronomic traits were obtained from first sowing time. Furthermore, genotype x sowing time interaction found very important with power of lines for seed cotton and fiber yields while gin turnout wasn’t important. Otherwise, hybrid powers were changed according to sowing time and parents and Primera cultivar was determined best tester than Beliizvor 432 and 2x6 combination was investigated as a good combination.
