The effects of the collaboration among the agricultural producers organizations on organizational success in Samsun province
Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine the effects of the horizontal collaboration of the agricultural producers’ organization on the organizational success in Samsun province. The primary and basic material of the study are the data collected through interviews from managers of agricultural producers’ organizations. In the study, interviews were conducted with 59 managers. The socioeconomic characteristics of organizations and managers were compared with frequency, Student’s t test and chi - square test. The social network of the organizations was analyzed by the degree centrality and density measures of social network analysis techniques. The relations between the success of the organizations and collaboration level and degree of the organizations tested with Spearman correlation test. The research results show that 59% of agricultural producers’ organization were financial sense fail. Also the agricultural development cooperatives were more financial sense fail than agricultural producer associations. The organizations that cooperate among themselves were more financially successful than those who do not cooperate with each other. The number of staff employed, the ratio of bringing the financial obligations of members and the number of members of the successful organizations were more than the unsuccessful organizations. Additionally, while the number of members of the successful organizations increased, the number of members of unsuccessful organization were stable. There were no statistically difference among education levels and management experience of the managers of successful organizations and unsuccessful organizations. In the successful organizations, the ratio of the educated managers about administration and organizations techniques were more than unsuccessful organizations. There were statistically relations among collaboration levels and degrees of the organizations and the organizational success. The horizontal collaboration among the organizations should be set up to succeed organizations. Also the managers should be educated about administration and organizations techniques continuously.
