Title Of Article :
Performance measurement in the agricultural producer unions
Abstract :
The main purpose of this research is to determine the performance levels of the Agricultural Producer Unions (APU). The main materials of this study were collected from the 14 APU executives selected from the Samsun Province through surveys. The performances of the APU were determined by a performance index set up based on 22 financial and non-financial variables, and factors affecting the performance were determined by the correlation analysis. Financial, non-financial and total performance indexes of the unions were determined as 42.5%, 47.7% and, %43.5, respectively. In terms of financial performance, while the APU were the best at receiving membership fees, they were the worst at donations, funds and grants to the unions. In terms of non-financial performance, the APU were the best at contributing to environmental sustainability, and the worst at participating in the education programs on agricultural organization. The APU dealing with crop production had a higher performance than those dealing with animal husbandry. To increase the performance of the APU, they should be more active on crops or product marketing, supplying inputs, expanding export markets and increasing project capacities.
