PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF ESKİŞEHİR-ALPU LIGNITES
Abstract :
A new lignite deposit is discovered from the Eskişehir-Alpu basin in the form of SW-NE trending two seams ranging in thickness from 0,55 to 31,60 m. The total reserve is expected to be around 1500 million tons. Average ash content of the upper seam is 36 %, sulphur content 1,87 %, moisture content 36 % and average calorific value is 1950 kcal/kg. Average ash content of the lower seam is 28 %, sulphur content 1,13 %, moisture content 32 % and average calorific value is 2150 kcal/kg. Comparisons of physical and chemical properties of the Eskişehir-Alpu lignites which is the third largest field of Turkey with those of similar occurrences reveal that Alpu lignites has significant economic value.
