Title Of Article :
REMOVAL OF BASIC RED 46 FROM THE AQUEOUS SOLUTION BY USING MODIFIED SUGAR BEET BAGASSE WITH FORMALDEHYDE IN BATCH SYSTEM
Abstract :
In this study, firstly, sugar beet bagasse (ŞPK) was treated with sodium hydroxide solution and secondly, saponified sugar beet bagasse obtained from first stage was modified with formaldehyde. The modified product from sugar beet bagasse with formaldehyde (ŞPKF) was used for removal of basic red 46 (BK46) from aqueous solution. The effective dose for removal was found to be 2 g/L. At 25 °C, 100 mL of 0.5 mM concentration solution of BK46 with 2 g/L of ŞPKF was contacted in batch containers for 360 minutes and it was determined that 80.8% of BK46 was removed under these conditions.Furthermore, the effects of pH and sorbent dose on removal of BK46 were investigated. The sorption capacities data that obtained against time were applied pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, intra-particle diffusion, modified Freundlich ve Banghman kinetic models and the best kinetic model for BK46 removal was determined to be the pseudo second order kinetic model. The BK46 solutions that a range from 0.10 mmol/L to 2.50 mmol/L of initial concentration were contacted with 2 g/L dose of sorbent and equilibrium data were obtained. These equilibrium data were analyzed by using Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, Frumkin, Temkin ve Elovich isotherms and it was determined that best-fit models for data are Langmuir and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms.
