Abstract :
In this study, the optimization of dissolution in the gluconic acid solutions of magnesite ore was performed according to Taguchi method. In the process of dissolution, particle size, acid concentration, solid to liquid ratio, stirring speed and reaction temperature as parameter were chosen. Optimum conditions for the maximum dissolution of magnesite ore are determined by using performance statistics of “the bigger – the better” by Taguchi Method. The optimum conditions that a conversion of 99.9 % was achieved were determined as particle size -80+120 mesh, solid-liquid ratio 1/35 g.mL^-1, reaction temperature 80˚C, reaction period 90 minute and acid concentration 1.25 M. Hence, it can be said that the optimization results are within 95% confidence level.
