Abstract
In this paper, it is aimed to development of Seydisuyu basin in terms of the water resources and hydropower potential. For this purpose, the electricity energy potential produced by the new dam being planned on the Seydisuyu creek is investigated. In this study, geographic information system (GIS) software and digital maps of the basin were used. Due to there is a suitable valley in downstream of the existing dams (Çatören and Kunduzlar) in Seydisuyu basin, it has planned a new dam for generating electricity. For evaluation all of the Seydisuyu water potential, it is required to construct at least one new dams in the hilly of Seydisuyu basin. The discharge capacity of Seydisuyu basin is appropriate only to install Small Hydropower Plants (SHPs). For this propose, initially, historical flow data of the new dam’s reservoir have been investigated. Then, historical flow data have been analyzed on a monthly basis for 21 years. It has been calculated that the electricity generation using the water potential of this new dam is 2,17 GWh/yr with 0,62 MW installed capacity.
