Title Of Article :
THE INFLUENCE OF IMPACTOR GEOMETRY ON THE IMPACT RESPONSE OF E-GLASS/EPOKSY COMPOSITE PIPES
Abstract :
In this study, the effect of impactor shape on the low velocity impact response of 10 layered E- glass/epoxy composite pipes which were manufactured by the filament wound method with a winding angle of ± 55° was investigated. Composite pipes which were fixed onto a vee support were impacted using steel 24 mm and 12 mm in diameter hemispherical and 120 ° pyramidal impactors via a specially low velocity impact test machine. Composite pipes were subjected to low velocity impact tests at 5, 10 and 15 J low energy levels. Plots of contact force with respect to time and those of force–displacement were obtained and damages occurred on the specimens were examined by mapping depending on the impactor shape.
