Abstract :
In this study, the thermal analysis of the submerged arc welding operation one of the most widespread utilised joining process was investigated using the finite elements method. The material used in this study is St37 and the submerged arc welding was applied in cornice position. The changing of the temperature in material was examined in the two dimensional geometry with using ANSYS software program. The curves show the temperature changing related to the time totally from six different points including the welding zone, the zone under of the thermal effects and the base metal zone of the material was obtained. Thus thermal changing related to the time in a part of St37 material welded with submerged arc welding in cornice position was achieved. Consequently, considered that the residual stresses and the distortion could be higher at the structure of material in the zones affected excessively from the temperature, so these zones determined previously with this study.
