Abstract
Developments in textile technologies and fashion phenomenon have been driving forces in designing fabric constructions which have various surface effects in a visual aspect. Therefore usage of fancy yarns which are produced with different techniques is increased for the production of fabrics having different surface effects. One of the new fancy yarn production techniques which is gaining a commercial significance is, fancy yarn production at knitting machines. These yarns which can be produced with flat and circular knitting techniques have numerous designing possibilities. These yarns are named diversely according to their structures and appearances. The yarns which are called as centipede yarns are produced in a type of flat knitting machine named fancy yarn crochet machine. In this study, the production technique of centipede yarns which have an important production portion among the knitted type fancy yarns were investigated and the important parameters influencing the yarn production were explained experimentally.
