Abstract
In this study, the fatigue behaviors of the cylindrical specimens manufactured by EN 90MnCrV8 (1.2842) cold work tool steel with different surface operation methods were compared. The methods used in manufacturing are machining and modern manufacturing methods consist of electrical discharge machining (EDM), chemical etching and sandblasting methods. The fatigue test conducted on the specimens was rotating bar bending fatigue test. The experimental findings indicate that fatigue behavior of 1.2842 is strongly affected by surface processing method. According to the results it was seen that the EDM procedure performed after machining was decreased fatigue life, the fatigue life of the specimens was notably increased in sandblasting method, and the lifetime was decreased in specimens produced by chemical etching.
