Abstract
In this paper it is aimed at investigating the air permeability property of cotton woven fabrics containing metal. For this purpose, 18 fabric samples having different specifications were obtained by using two different count metallic weft yarns, three different weave types (rips, twill and sateen) and three different weft densities. The relationships between the fabrics’ structural parameters like weft yarn type, weave type and weft density and air permeability behavior are investigated. It has been shown that the increase of weft density and metallic yarn count led to a decrease in air permeability values of metallic woven fabrics. Also, while the metallic woven fabrics with ribs weave have the maximum air permeability value; these fabrics are followed by the fabrics having weave types of sateen and twill. When the metallic and metal free fabrics which have the same structural parameters are compared in terms of the air permeability properties, it has been seen that the metallic fabrics has more air permeability than the metal free fabrics.
