Abstract :
After started to student-centered education based on active learning, several studies relating to various aspects of the constructivist approach are produced. The majority of these studies argue that student learning is positively affected by constructivist approach according to used in the teacher-centered approach. Thus, student-centered approach is recommended to teachers for their using. But mostly, because of methodologies this type of quantitative researches and experimental studies are usually emphasize the results, not the “process” of lessons for details on how configured and how staged in accordance with process. This study was developed as a guide and sample to geography teachers about how to configure and design activities of a geography lesson based on action research and as a different study according to quantitative and theoretical methods. The study designed and implemented by the researcher in the fall semester of 2008-2009 academic year for 9th grade students of Kütahya Nafi Güral Science High School. In the study, a lesson designed and applied about “Earthquakes” in the context of the standard; “A.9.14. Explain the formation process of internal and external forces”. It was aimed to develop “Geographical Enquiry Skill” during the lesson which is one the geographical skills in the geography curriculum. During the design of lesson, it was used 5 Ws 1 H technique (what, where, when, why, who, how) integrated with cooperative learning approach in order to develop that geographical skill. Therefore, the process of course design was organized to focus on two points: 1.Student- centered learning, 2. Develop geographical skills.
