Abstract :
The main objective in this survey is to determine the level of understanding some concepts by students within “a spatial synthesis; Turkey learning area” for 9th grade geography lesson. The subject group of the survey is 109 9th grade students in Trabzon city centre who attended their schools during 2008-2009 academic years. The data acquired as a result of the inquiry are evaluated statistically. Consequently, it has been determined that students have many conceptual misunderstandings. Moreover, while some concepts are confused, many others are left unanswered.
