An Investigation of Geography Student Teachers’ Profiles and Attitudes Toward Teaching Profession
Abstract :
In this study, it was tried to be determined the profiles and attitudes toward teaching profession of geography student teachers. The study conducted with 293 geography student teacher who are various universities of the Faculty of Education at Geography Teacher Education program last year and Educational Sciences / Social Sciences Institute of Secondary Education Social Sciences Education Geography Teacher Education Non-Thesis Master Program 2009-2010 academic year in the spring semester. This study was carried out by using survey method. Data were gathered by the help of profile questionnaires which developing by researcher and an attitude scale toward teaching profession which developing by Çetin (2006). Data were analyzed by using the statistical package SPSS 13. According to the study results, two different geography teacher candidates enrolled in the program in terms of profile properties are similar to each other. Attitude scores for the teaching profession is high.
