Title Of Article :
A NOVEL MINIATURIZED CPW-FED PATCH ANTENNA USING MODIFIED GROUND PLANE FOR WIRELESS APPLICATIONS

Abstract :
In this paper, a Coplanar Wave Guide (CPW)-Fed patch antenna for wireless applications is studied. The proposed structure covers the LTE (Long Term Evolution) (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1880–1990 MHz), UMTS (1920–2170 MHz) and 5.80 GHz RFID applications. The miniaturization of the antenna size is achieved by introducing one horizontal slot and multiple vertical slots in the ground plane. By setting up slots in the ground plane, the resonant frequency of conventional antenna is shifted back and new - 10dB bandwidth is obtained covering the 5.80 GHz RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) application. The antenna has compact size of 40x50x1.6mm^3. The radiation patterns in the lower operating bandwidth are almost the same as the omnidirectional characteristics. Moreover the proposed structure has reasonable gain. The influences of various design parameters are investigated using CADFEKO, a Method of Moment (MoM) based solver.
