Diversity Management in High Schools: Individual Attitudes, Organizational Values and Administrative Policies
Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to explore individual attitudes and behaviors, organizational norms and values, and administrative policies and practices in terms of diversity of employees in the view of high school administrators and teachers. The population of the survey modelresearch included state high school administrators and teachers all over Turkey. The sample of the study, for which stratified sampling method was used, consisted of 400 administrators and 450 teachers from state high schools in totally 21 central districts, three high schools for each of the seven geographical regions inTurkey, chosen according to socio-economic development index. The following results were reached in the study: Individual attitudes and behaviors, organizational norms and values, and the available administrative policies and practices in terms of diversity of employees were largely positive. The views of high school administrators and teachers varied according to title, gender, professional seniority, and work district. The most positive factors were respectively administrative practices and policies followed by individual attitudes and behaviors and organizational norms and values.
