Abstract :
The purpose of the present study was to determine the elementary school teachers’ views and suggestions regarding the problems they encountered in the process of inclusive applications. The participants in the study were 19 elementary school teachers from five different elementary schools in a central district of Istanbul, Maltepe. At the same time, all the participants were teaching 1st grade elementary school students among whom were inclusive students as well. The research data were collected via the semi-structured interview technique, which is one of qualitative research methods. The data collected during the study was analyzed through descriptive analysis. As results, it was found out that the elementary school teachers’ demands were ignored in inclusive applications in elementary schools; that inclusive applications were carried out in inappropriate physical conditions; and that although the elementary school teachers can get help from other school staff to overcome the problems they met, their help was not efficient or functional. Considering the research findings, it could be suggested that all school staff, including especially elementary school teachers, should made aware of inclusive applications.
