Marital Adjustment with respect to Attribution, Attachment and Personality
Abstract :
This study investigated predictive powers of personality, attribution types and attachment styles over marital adjustment. The study was conducted based upon correlational survey model and convenience sampling method was employed. A total of 124 (57 females and 67 males) married individuals from different public and private organizations located in Ankara participated in the study. The range of participants’ ages was 23 - 53. Average duration of marriage is Ẋ= 11.45, df= 8.19. In addition, 23 of the subjects are high school graduates, 79 of the subjects are university graduates and 22 of the subjects completed master’s degree. As a result of discriminant analysis, it was found that in the first function, females with low marital adjustment engaged less in causal attribution whereas males with high marital adjustment showed more in causal attribution. In the second function, it was found that attribution of responsibility and openness the experience was higher in males with low marital adjustment whereas they were lower in females with high marital adjustment.
