Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to investigate how prospective secondary mathematics teachersconstruct the limit concept functions of two variables in their mind. To achieve this purpose, first we tried the determine the points which prospective secondary mathematics teachers have some understanding difficulties related with the limit concept and second we tried to find out how they use their knowledge which they already had about the limit concept of single variables when they were constructing the limit concept functions of two variables in their mind. To collect the data, we orientated a written questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions to the 37 candidates who were 2nd class students in the Department of Secondary Mathematics Education of a state education faculty. According to the findings which were obtained from the analysis of the data, the candidates couldn’t understand what is the meaning of “if it is exist, the limit of a function of two variables is independent from the approximation to the searched point.
