Pre-service Teachers’ Self-efficacy Beliefs towards Computer Use
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to compare pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs according to the department and gender variables. Descriptive survey model was used in this study. The study was conducted with a group of senior pre-service students that is composed of 33 students from elementary education mathematics teaching, 58 from science teaching, 21 from primary school teaching, and 38 from preschool teaching in the fall semester of 2011-2012 academic year. “Self-efficacy Beliefs towards Computer Usage survey” that was adapted into Turkish by Timur (2011) was used. According to the results of the analysis there is no significant difference between gender and self-efficacy beliefs towards computer usage; there is significant difference in outcome expectancy which is the sub-dimension of computer self-efficacy beliefs survey, among departments. According to the findings obtained from the study, suggestions were given to the pre-service teachers, the teacher training institutions and program developers.
