Questioning Values in La Fontaine Fables in terms of Production Relations
Abstract :
In this study, it is claimed that the content of fables or tales can change in time due to the changes in production relations. The values such as cooperation, working assiduously, modesty and vigilance implied in La Fontaine fables are examined and the current interpretations on these values are focused on. To what extent La Fontaine fables can contribute to the children’s education at the present time of modernity and urbanism is also discussed. This discussion may bring a new perspective to the use of these fables as instructional materials.
