Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to examine effects of virtual reality software that includes three dimensional visual designs on 7th grade students’ academic achievement and retention on astronomy subjects in science and technology lesson. In this context, in order to help 7th grade students to structure astronomy subjects better in their minds, worksheets suitable for virtual reality software were developed and administered to 7th grade students attending a socioeconomically low level primary school in Aydın. Study group is composed of 60 students; 30 students in the experimental group and 30 students in control group. Astronomy achievement test composed of 20 items and reliability level was calculated to be .76. At the end of the study it was seen that experimental group students’ academic achievement increased more than control group students. It was found out that instruction given using virtual reality software was more effective.
