Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine items which have differential item functioning in Level Determination Examinations (LDE) subtests and compare similarities of differential item functioning detection methods in terms of classical (Transformed Item Difficulty, Mantel–Haenszel, Lojistic Regression) and Item Response Theory (Lord’s ve Raju’s signed area). An additional goal of this study is to check the spread of DIF items to subtests in the presence of DIF items. Data includes the responses of same students who took LDE A booklet in 2009, 2010 and 2011. DIF analyses are limited only by gender groups of students. The results of the study showed that, most of the items didn t show DIF for Classical Test Theory methods but most of the items showed DIF for Item Response Theory methods.Classical Test Theory methods results have similarities within them and Item Response Theory Methods results similarities within them but results differ between Classical Theory Methods and Item Response Theory Methods. Any subtest which includes items which shows systematic differential item functioning couldn t be detected.
