Abstract :
Bullying at school has become a widespread problem in all around the world. Studies about bullying revealed that there are some individual, familial and social variables contributing to bullying problem. Thus, the purpose of the current research was to investigate the relationship between bully/status, empathy and life satisfaction in early adolescents. Analyses revealed that victimized students had higher levels of empathic tendency than bullies and bully/victims regarding both cognitive and emotional components. There were no significant differences between bullies and bully/victims regarding empathic tendency. In terms of life satisfaction, bully/victim group is the most disadvantageous group comparing to victims and bullies which is rather consistent with the literature. Surprisingly, bullies were the most advantageous group comparing to other groups regarding life satisfaction scores. Moreover, gender did not have a significant effect on empathic tendency and life satisfaction. Findings are discussed in terms of current literature, and some suggestions are presented.
