Abstract :
Education process to be conducted healthily at schools is only possible on the condition that needs such as physical opportunities, security and discipline are satisfied. School guard duty given considerably to teachers has an crucial role at meeting the needs. At this research, it has been aimed at determining what teachers do during school guard duty which has such kind of importance in school`s running, and what kind of activities they engage. Study group of research consists of 10 teachers serving at Güvemalan primary and secondary schools located on Çanakkale-Biga district at the second term of 2013-2014 academic year. Research is descriptive, and it is formed with qualitative research technique. Nonstructured observation has been used at the process of collecting data. Data regarding activities which teachers perform during school guard duty at two-week process is achieved through school security footage shooting at four different spots of school. Observation notes and results taken from these footages have been presented. At research result, it has been detected that teachers wander around the areas to which they have been assigned during process of school guard duty, observe students from a certain spot, walk at the yard and corridor, check students` numbers after they get on school bus, and they are in a communication with students. In addition to this, it has been also detected that they do not check classes and the other parts of school before the course starts, leave their guard duty place at lunch time and breaks after noon, or that they do not stand at their guard duty places.
