Adaptation of Kindergarten and Primary School Teachers’ Perception Levels of Professional Efficacy Scale into Turkish
Abstract :
In this study, the “Kindergarten and Primary School Teachers’ Perception of Professional Efficacy Scale” developed by Wang (2005) was aimed to be adapted into Turkish culture. After the equivalence trial, the Turkish forms were given to 222 kindergarten and elementary teachers teaching in public schools in Çankaya county, Ankara providence, Turkey. 88% of the chosen teachers were females and 12% of them were males. 34% were kindergarten, %19.5 were 1st grade, %13.3 were 2nd grade, %12.8 were 3rd grade and %20.5 were 4th grade teachers. In order to determine the structural validity of the scale, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were done and in order to determine the reliability, Cronbach Alpha internal consistency was measured. At the end of the statistical analyses, the scale adapted into Turkish was seen to be composed of 30 items in 5 sub- dimensions. Internal consistency values of the scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of the scale ranged from .95 to .98. The results of the study show that this scale adapted into Turkish is a valid and reliable scale which may be used to determine the kindergarten and elementary teachers’ levels of perception of efficacy.
