Title Of Article :
CNC MILLING TRAINING SET DESIGN AND APPLICATION
Abstract :
In this study a low cost, triaxial desktop CNC milling machine that can be produced by using resources of vocational schools in their workhops and laboratories was designed, its prototype was manufactured and interactive training program for CNC training was developed. In this framework, a bridge type CNC milling machine whose axial stroke lengths are 460, 320, and 120 mm (X,Y and Z respectively) driven by steeping motors was designed and manufactured. The body of CNC was produced with the elements of sheet metals and sigma profiles. The axes were born via linear ball skids and ball threaded rods were used as moving mechanism. For electronic control unit, the control circuit which is integrated with L297 - L298 steeping motor was preferred and it was run by CNC Mach II control programme. In order to determine the accuracy and precision, the experiments were carried out and then the results were assessed. In order to determine the accuracy of axes, the channels through the axes were machined on material (XPS) with finger milling cutters the lengths of the channels were measured and their standard deviations were calculated. The standard deviation of X axis was measured as 0.119 mm, of Y axis as 0.030 mm and of XY axis as 0.044 mm. The precision of CNC, in general, was calculated as 0.0125 mm. Pocket future was machined in order to test the processing capability of CNC 2.5 axis and the required measurements were made, an Atatürk’s relief was successfully processed in testing a triaxial free surface processing capability.
