Title Of Article :
EFFECT OF POROSITY OF AGGREGATE ON PHYSICOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE
Abstract :
In this study, the physical properties of natural and artificial aggregates were determined. The effects of apparent and theoretical pore rates of lightweight concretes obtained from these aggregates on the mass per unit volume, compressive strength and flexure strength of concrete samples were investigated. Five different types of natural LWA, one type of artificial LWA and limestone aggregate were used in this study. Dosage of cement and w/c ratio was kept constant in the mix designs of normal and lightweight concrete samples and Portland cement was used in this mixtures. Prepared fresh concretes were poured into cube, cylinder and prismatic moulds and concrete samples were kept under the same curing conditions. The mass per unit volumes, apparent and theoretical pore rates, compressive strengths and flexure strengths of lightweight concretes samples were determined and the effects of apparent and theoretical pore rates on pyhsico-mechanical properties of samples were investigated. As a result, the close relationship between the mass per unit volume and compressive strength with theoretical pore rate in lightweight concretes were presented. In addition, by using theoretical pore rates, it was also proposed the equations for the estimation of these properties.
