  • Abstract
Rutting and moisture damage are mainly two important distress mechanisms for asphalt mixtures. Various environmental conditioning systems can be exposed to asphalt mixtures in laboratory. In this way, a distress performance problem can be investigated with definite aspects. Nevertheless in the field conditions evaluation of a selected problem only is difficult because of the fact that such pavement problems have been being damaged together. Water sensitivity of hot mix asphalts is important in pavement distress process. Using of anti stripping agents becomes prominent for controlling deformation based on moisture. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects on permanent deformation of fatty amine anti-stripping additive in asphalt mixtures at moderate and high temperatures. Repeated creep test was used for rutting. Control samples and amine modified mixtures were divided into two groups and moisture conditioning was applied to in one group samples. Samples were tested at 20°C and 40°C test temperatures. Amine anti-stripping agent improved rutting resistance at both temperatures. It was differentiated that selected moisture conditioning methods can reveal observable level of damage on performance of mixtures.
