Abstract :
Basalt is natural stone.that preferred due to wear and be affected by climatic conditions during at least one of the leading. In nature, which constitute the group of volcanic rock, lava flows have a very wide spread in our country especially in the Diyarbakir region, 80 m. Covering an area of 10 000 km2 in the thickness of the porous and nonporous basalt stones are divided into two groups. In this study in order to determination of mechanical properties of basalt stones, compressive strength, tensile strength (Brazilian Method), point load strength, impact strength, abrasion loss, impact abrasion loss (Los Angeles Method), experiments, for determination of physical Properties thermal conductivity, density , specific heat capacity, water absorption and drying experiments and Basalt stone cut ability and polishing properties were examined. As a result of these experiments non-porous basalt was more rigid than porous basalt.
