ENERGY ANALYSIS OF A CEMENT PLANT ROTARY KILN PROCESS
Abstract :
Cement sector is one of the most energy consumer sectors which have got higher energy costs. Thus, it is being most important to investigate and utilize the energy saving methods. In this study, thermodynamic analysis using energy and mass balance of equations of a rotary kiln unit of a cement factory which has got an energy consumption of 75 kW/ton per clinker production is investigated. The energy efficiency is found to be 58.6 %. The analysis also shows that loses mostly occurs from the rotary kiln surfaces, from chimney and leakage air. Also some suggestions are made according to the results to improve the energy efficiency.
