Title Of Article :
Dose Values Dependent on Distance of Skyshine Radiation Produced by Accelerators
Abstract :
Thin roof shielding has represented a serious problem that plagued a number of accelerators, because in most cases sufficient shielding must be provided in the horizontal direction. Skyshine is the term used for radiation (usually neutrons) that originates near the surface of the earth with an upward velocity and then is scattered back by the molecules in the atmosphere. The public around the accelerator may be irradiated. To estimate this exposure, tabulated solutions of the transport of neutrons through the air are frequently used. In this study, we calculated the dose values as a function of distance of skyshine radiation from high-energy accelerators.
