Title Of Article :
Distribution and Heterogenity of Mast Cells in Small Intestine of Rat (Rattus rattus)
Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to determine the distribution and heterogenity of mast cells in small intestine of rat (Rattus rattus). For this purpose, small intestine regions (duodenum, jejunum, ileum) of 6 adult Wistar albino rat were used as the material. Each tissue samples were fixed 10% Formalin, Carnoy and Isotonic Formaldehyde Acetic Acid (IFAA) solutions. Toluidine Blue (TB), Thionin and Alcian Blue/Safranin-O (AB/SO) staining methods were applied to the sections. As a result of applications, it was detected that the studied regions and mast cell in this regions were fixed best with IFAA and Formalin solutions. As a result of TB and Thionin staining methods, some of mast cells showed metachromasia in all regions. Maximum mast cell density was in the duodenum that fixed with IFAA and stained with TB and minimum mast cell density was in the ileum that fixed with Carnoy and stained with AB/SO. It was concluded that different fixation solutions and staining methods effect the distribution and heterogeneity of mast cells.
