Abstract :
This paper aims to discuss the variety of textual and other evidence for the myth of Andromeda at lope. Providing a detailed compilation of the relevant material, it sets out to investigate the compound factors that may have helped to shape the various versions ofthe story. A focus on this specific case study, in particular with regard to the tale s location at lope, will lead to further recognition of the way in which the multifarious information presented in the ancient sources reflects a constantly developing perception of the mythological past.
