Developing a Scale for Motivation to Study Lesson for Adolescents

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a scale about motivation to study lesson for adolescents. Totally 294 (180 female and 114 male) participants who were adolescents ages 14-17 (mean=15.60) were included in the study. In this study, explatory factor analysis method was used in order to analyze the data, and also some reliability analysis methods used. In this study, General Need Satisfaction Scale was used. According to results, the scale which has 60.52 % explained variance and three dimensions which are named “intrinsic motivation“, “extrinsic motivation”, and also “amotivation” is developed. In addition to this, the reliability and validity analyses show that the scale is satisfactory reliable and valid. As a result, in this study a scale which is named “Motivation to Study Lesson Scale for Adolescents” is developed.
