Perceptions of Students and Teachers about Fatih Project
Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to evaluate FATİH project from the perspectives of students and teachers in high schools from Ankara. For this purpose, 5 pilot schools were selected. The sample of this study was consisted of 520 students and 65 teachers. Students’ and teachers’ opinions were obtained though a questionnaire including quantitative and qualitative sections. The findings showed that students thought FATİH project wouldn’t contribute to the education, there were internet restrictions between interactive boards and tablet PCs, the contents of these devices were insufficient, the usage of interactive boards and tablet PCs limited the lessons, quality of tablet PCs was poor, and they crashed constantly, EBA website was not appropriate for their ages. They also stated that teachers needed educational training about the use of these technologies and technical service hadn’t helped them with their problems on time. The teachers stated that FATİH project wouldn’t contribute to the education, tablet PCs weren’t used for educational purpose so they were unnecessary, the contents of interactive boards and tablet PCs were insufficient, EBA website weren’t used in an effective way and they needed in-service training about the use of technology. Additionally, teachers stated that interactive boards were used efficiently in lessons so they were very satisfied with interactive board.
