Abstract :
Parallel to the developments all around the world, considerable efforts are being made in order to create more effective and rich learning approaches by utilizing contemporary instructional technologies in Turkey. Accordingly, FATİH Project has been given a start to ensure the equality of opportunity in education and to improve technology in schools by the Ministry of National Education. Pilot studies are implemented at 52 schools (preschool, primary and secondary education); 12800 tablet computers are distributed to students and teachers within the scope of the project. It was intended to explore teachers’ opinions about tablet computers before the project is being implemented at a larger scale. For this reason, primary school teachers’ opinions from three different cities were gathered by using open ended questions in this study. All teachers were observed to have similar views on the advantages and disadvantages of the tablet computers. Also, it is revealed that teachers don’t have a comprehensive understanding of the project, due to the fact that they were not provided with the necessary information.
