Abstract :
In preschool years interactive story reading is not just reading a story entirely. It is designed to draw children’s attention to the pictures, and talk about them as well as asking questions in order to improve children’s developmental areas. Interactive story reading contributes to children’s analytic thinking, problem solving and creativity skills. It also means creating phonological and writing awareness and supporting their early literacy skills. When these outcomes are considered, it is advisable that teachers and parents have the necessary qualifications for interactive story reading. Teachers know how to do this because of their professional backgrounds. This study aims at drawing a path for parents about how to read stories interactively to their children. It is also aimed to develop awareness on the part of the parents related to the benefits of interactive story reading in the child’s developmental areas. This study will help early childhood teachers convey information to parents about interactive story reading processes.
