Abstract :
Women incur discrimination in working environment in terms of employment, charging and working status. Despite International Labour Organization (ILO) standards and decrees expressed explicitly in national labour laws, discrimination still subsists due to malfunctions in application of laws, reflections of societies’ prejudices, inured trends and applications to working life. The inconveniences in women employment, which has got a critical importance for the countries’ development, lead to many negative economic and social results, particularly low employment and wage levels. This study is executed for determinatining women employees’ economic and social problems working in private sector in Diyarbakır. Survey was applied to 361 women working in province’s center in private sector by talking face to face within the screening model and results obtained were generalized and evaluated. Concordantly, analysis fulfilled within framework of Kolmogorov–Simirnov test exposes wage distribution is generally around minimum wages, illicit work is around % 9 (p 0.001), education level is in countenance of high school and university graduates and employment participation rate increases paralel to the rise in education level (p 0.001). According to correlation analysis, it is seen that there is a positive and significant correlation between education level and wage variables (rs=0.554; p 0.001), correlation coefficient calculated between children number and education level is negative at an important level (rs=-0.252; p=0.03).
