Abstract
The organizational support theory supposes that the increased work effort is related to organizations willingness to award their employees’ contributions and meet their socio-emotional needs. Organizational commitment helps organizational survival as well as employee conformity and productivity. Literature indicates a relationship between perceived organizational support and organizational commitment. This study focuses on this relationship in a business operating at manufacturing industry. This research has been conducted in a private factory operating in manufacturing sector of the city of Usak. The factory has 323 employees including white and blue collars. Simple regression analysis has been used to measure the effect of perceived organizational support on organizational commitment and its subcategories such as affective, continuance and normative commitment. The research has found a positive and significant relationship between perceived organizational support and organizational commitment, affective commitment and normative commitment. Perceived organizational support has not been found to be significantly related to continuance commitment.
