Abstract :
This study reevaluates the validty and reliability of the organizational citizenship behavior scale (OCB), which is used by Podsakoff and his colleguages (1990) and discuss the results. The literature, regarding the which behaviours should be included in OCB, has not reached a consensus. Some researchers mention about the two main dimensions of OCB, while others claim the protection of the original five dimension structure. Data is collected by the help of the online questionnaire from 430 state employees. The factorial structure of the scale is evaluated by using both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Results show organizational citizenship behavior scale, which is composed of 21 items, is a valid and reliable (α=0.88) measure and it consists of five dimensions such as courtesy, sportsmanship, altruism, consicentiousness, and civic virtue. Results also reveal that OCB is best represented by the courtesy dimension. In addition, results show that two factor solution, which is offered by Williams ve Anderson (1991) is not supported well compared to five factor solution. Results reveals that OCB scale can be used in research, which is applied in Turkey effectively
