Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of agglomeration on firm mobility for Turkish manufacturing industry. In this respect Ellison and Glaeser index of agglomeration is calculated using panel data for 1995-2001 period for Turkish manufacturing industry. Ellison and Glaeser index is regressed with standard independent variables against entry and exit equations separately. Considering the censored nature of the dependent variable Tobit model is employed. The results of the empirical analysis indicate that agglomeration can be regarded as an entry barrier and exit incentive for firms operating in Turkish manufacturing industry. Hence, it is possible to argue that, for Turkish manufacturing industry spatial factors are significant and important on firm mobility.
