Title Of Article :
THE IMPACT OF PARTICIPATIVE LEADERSHIP ON JOB SATISFACTION: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL SACRIFICE
Abstract :
Participative leadership, which has been generally defined as participation of employees in decision-making processes, both leads to intrinsic motivation for employees, and also increases their trust perceptions. Participative leadership has a positive effect on various outcomes such as performance, commitment, and job satisfaction. However, there is only limited research on the mediating mechanisms that relate participative leadership to these outcomes. Therefore, the current study investigates the mediating role of organizational sacrifice in the relationship between participative leadership and job satisfaction. Data for this study were collected from 310 employees working in a major telecommunications company via survey methodology. All scales used in the study have been analyzed for their reliability and validity. In this study, two strategies were used for determining the mediation effect, namely the approach by Baron and Kenny (1986) and the Sobel test (1982). Results indicated that participative leadership was positively related to organizational sacrifice and job satisfaction. Moreover, organizational sacrifice mediates the relationship between participative leadership and job satisfaction. Participative leadership increases organizational sacrifice, which in turn increases job satisfaction of employees.
