Title Of Article :
THE IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL SILENCE ON ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR: AN APPLICATION IN A TRAINING AND RESEARCH HOSPITAL
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to show whether health professionals’ evaluations regarding organizational silence dimensions have any impact on their organizational citizenship behaviour and its dimensions. To this end, the research population includes 435 health professionals (doctors, nurses, other medical officials and administrative staff) working in a training and research hospital located in Ankara. No sampling was done and surveys were distributed to entire employee population. The data obtained from 230 health professionals were evaluated and the results indicated that the health professionals’ mean scores regarding organizational silence dimensions were lower than mean scores regarding organizational citizenship behavior and its dimensions and there were significant and negative correlations between organizational silence dimensions and organizational citizenship behavior dimensions. Also, the regression analysis results show that the health professionals’ evaluations regarding organizational silence dimensions had negative impacts on organizational citizenship behavior and its dimensions. These findings suggested that decreasing organizational silence might increase health professionals’ organizational citizenship behavior.
